UCL Centre for Education Policy and Equalising Opportunities

We were absolutely delighted with the results - the film was used at our launch event and continues to be the focal point of our webpage. Econ Films delivered the creative content to bring our mission to life.

BRIEF

To illustrate how the Centre for Education Policy & Equalising Opportunities addresses inequalities by understanding and improving education and wider opportunities. The audiences include early years practitioners, teachers, school leaders, further education providers, university widening participation teams and policy-makers. The message was to propose that evidence-based policy and practice is the key to equalising opportunities and that everyone can play their part.

APPROACH

We created a visual animation style that uses abstract shapes and textures to highlight the different access to opportunity people have from birth, using a split screen approach and momentum that shows how these differences in opportunity play out over a person’s life. It also clearly lays out the work and mission of the Centre, how they propose to help and how stakeholders and policy-makers can get involved.

IMPACT

The video formed a central part of the launch of the Centre, featuring at the official launch event and as part of stakeholder engagement and outreach.
